JESSIE GOTSDINER

IMPACT EVALUATION INTERN

Where are you from? Born in Seoul, Korea, and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.

School: Earning my Master’s degree in Public Administration and Policy Analysis at NYU.

Why TAP? I wanted to join an innovative, results-oriented nonprofit that lifts people out of poverty. At TAP, I will help to streamline data from the field so our results reach our supporters. Additionally, one of my favorite bands, Arcade Fire, has always supported work in Haiti - where TAP supported a coal-efficient stove program. TAP fit my professional criteria and called to me on a personal level.

When you were young, what was your dream job? I aspired to be an elite gymnast, but I was too injury prone. I still follow the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics National Team year-round.

GIZELA ZAQUEU

Operations and Special Events Intern

Where are you from? White Plains, New York. But I grew up in Italy, Macedonia and Tanzania.

School:  Political Science at Quinnipiac University.

Why TAP? I wanted to be a part of an organization that set itself apart from other non-profit organizations. Having traveled to Tanzania many times over, I've seen the cycle of poverty from which many people suffer.  TAP’s projects have helped communities in the East African region, creating 413 jobs in Uganda, 202 jobs in Kenya and many more around the world. I am proud to be working for an organization that has impacted one million people and will impact many more through their innovative programs.

When you were younger, what was your dream job? When I was younger, I wanted to be a pilot. I loved living in Italy, Macedonia and Tanzania as a kid and I have always had the urge to go places where I've never set foot.  I currently have a wish list and my next stop is Paris, France!

KETHAN RAO

Social Media Marketing

Where are you from? The east coast of Florida, Port Saint Lucie.

School: Sustainable Development and Economics at Columbia University.

Why TAP? I am from India and much of my family still lives there, so TAP’s mission is also a personal mission for me. TAP has done inspiring work to alleviate poverty in India which you can read about here. I joined TAP because I believe that job creation is the key to ending poverty.

When you were young, what was your dream job? I always wanted to be a spy  because of James Bond. As a kid, I tried to dress just like him.

COURTNEY NOBLE

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING INTERN

Where are you from? Live in Sydney, Australia, but grew up in Singapore.

School: Macquarie University, studying International Relations majoring in Social Justice.

Why TAP? I heard about TAP through a friend. I had a look at the website and began reading through Stories from the Field. It was Gertrude’s story as a Health Care Agent that completely moved me to do something - not only because of the circumstances she lives in, but how accessible change was for her and the 300 people she has treated with malaria since being hired. If people like you and me can support TAP, we will be able to provide more jobs and lift people out of poverty, for good.

When you were young, what was your dream job? Among many other things, I wanted to be a dancer on Broadway. I’ll definitely be packing in the shows while I’m here in New York.

GEORGE QIAN

ACCOUNTING/BOOKKEEPING INTERN

Where are you from? I was born in Singapore, but live in New York.

School:  Finance and Math at NYU Stern.

Why TAP? I also heard about through a friend (word gets around!). What drew me in was the novel idea behind job creation and the collaborative work environment at Beespace. I always heard the Chinese saying, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” That concept resonated with me as it provides a sustainable method of poverty reduction. Everyone at TAP feeds off each other and it truly is an amazing place to work at.

When you were young, what was your dream job? I always wanted to be a professional basketball player, but puberty didn’t treat me so well.

STANLEY WU

ACCOUNTING/BOOKKEEPING INTERN

Where are you from? Born and raised in Queens.

School: Rising sophomore at NYU studying finance and math.

Why TAP? I first learned about TAP through another intern, George. The project’s practical and sustainable approach really caught my interest. I love the way the team has clearly outlined how the organization helps out so that everyone can understand the successes and challenges we face in tackling poverty. I'm really excited to join TAP and do my part so we can continue to make a difference.

When you were young, what was your dream job? I really wanted (and still do) to be a teacher. I admire my teachers for all the effort they put in to set us on the right path, and it'd be great to one day go back to my old high school to teach.
