Jody Landers

Co-Founder and Board Member

On their ten-year wedding anniversary, Jody and her husband adopted their two youngest children from Sierra Leone. Their experiences opened their eyes, broke their hearts and confirmed the desire to see a world where the adoption of orphans is not necessary. So from a tiny town in Iowa, with one laptop, a lot of passion, and some free time (?), Jody helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to help those in need in developing countries. Now in Washington with her family, Jody realizes that there are millions of people just like her -- eager to help, if they just knew how. Jody is the proud mother to six children, the director of Charitable Giving at Bamboo Realty and the recipient of the 2008 Hallmark Channel’s Remarkable Woman of the Year Award.

Carrie Maldovan

Operations and Programs Manager

Carrie joined the Adventure Project in 2015 after completing her master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in international nonprofit management at Columbia University. Before grad school, Carrie lived in Tanzania working alongside international and local grassroots development organizations providing technical and capacity support. She later joined a tourism company as their Social Impact Director. She also co-founded a responsible and sustainable tourism company, Above Safaris, that provides good jobs, supports local businesses, and channels profits into sustainable community development projects.

Liz Kennedy

Fundraising Associate

Prior to joining The Adventure Project, Liz spent three years working in fundraising and development in Boulder, Colorado at an arts and cultural organization. After leaving Colorado, Liz moved to Nicaragua to support an NGO in a rural coastal village transitioning from a traditional fishing economy to a tourist economy. She worked on projects related to public health, education, and sustainable tourism for a year before returning to New York City and joining the team at The Adventure Project.
