Cassie has over 15 years of experience in the education space. Her focus is on student engagement, teacher leadership compensation, and differentiated accountability. Cassie has led professional learning and provided ongoing support to districts in the implementation of Iowa Core, MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS), standards-based reporting system, and adaptive software to support students, as well as in language and literacy development. Cassie also has experience facilitating implementation of Eric Jensen’s poverty work and supporting instructional coaches/leaders through the Teacher Leadership and Compensation System. Her focus on student engagement carries over to STEM, where she has initiated middle school girls STEM clubs to serve as a role model and to increase female enrollment in high school STEM courses. 

Her experience in teacher leadership and student engagement has led her to lead collaborative workshops where K-12 teachers engaged in professional reading, critical dialog, and intensive practice with the design process behind proficiency-based learning. She’s also led professional development sessions on Evaluation of the TLC System, STEM training, unwrapping standards, writing learning targets, increasing rigor and relevance, unrolling Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and implementing standards-based grading. Cassie has a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Northern Iowa. Cassie has a long history of supporting and fundraising for international development, from charity: water to currently serving with The Adventure Project since 2012.
